Ok, you've already decided that you want to ask this one of the most important questions in your life, in Vienna, but you start to wonder where exactly in Vienna I can propose?

So there’re a lot of wonderful places, and everything depends on what you prefer, whether you prefer to get engaged in the historic city centre, or you prefer nature (this kind of places we also have in Vienna), or maybe some place with spectacular views of the entire city?

As I said, there’re lots of options, but to make it easier for you, I have listed a few of them below (of course, not all of them). I have many more ideas in my head about beautiful places to get engaged in Vienna, so if you are still hesitating, write to me!

Let's start...

1) Schönbrunn Gardens / Romantic proposal

Even if you haven't been here, you've probably heard about this place… The baroque palace with extensive gardens (1.2 km from east to west) is one of the most beautiful places in Europe. Schonbrunn Gardens are full of romantic squares, so you can look for one of them and propose in an intimate atmosphere, or you can go to the Goriette, a small hill with the fantastic view of the palace and gardens.

Almost every season is great for engagement in Schönbrunn Gardens, in spring and summer, when flowers are blooming, place looks incredibly charming, in autumn colors are different, but beautiful too, however, even in winter, Schonbrunn Gardens has its own atmosphere, because of the Christmas Market and huge Christmas tree in front of the palace.

By the way, the Christmas season in Vienna is really great time to get engaged in Vienna (and one of my favourite seasons here at all), the city is beautifully decorated, with lots of Christmas markets (for example Christmas Market in front of the Rathaus, but there’re also smaller markets with more intimate atmosphere), lights and mulled wine… no more needed to create a romantic atmosphere for your proposal.

2) Kahlenberg/ Romantic proposal

Kahlenberg is a hill with the spectacular view of Vienna and the Danube, a bit outside the city centre, but there is no problem to get there also by public transport. The views are beautiful both during the day and in the evening when the city is beautifully illuminated… so it all depends on what you prefer, but for sure it will be an unforgettable proposal!

During the day a great idea is to take a blanket, wine, some snacks and prepare a romantic picnic. There’re many places nearby where you can enjoy romantic picnic with beautiful views in the background. Below the hill there’re also numerous wineries, maybe some wine tasting? One more thing… romantic self prepared picnic with sparkling wine will be even more romantic prepared an hour before sunset, during the so-called golden hour and then sunset… photos from the engagement will be also even more beautiful during this time.

3) Prater / Creative Proposal

If you and your other half don’t like gardens, picnics and these kinds of things or you want something more fun, what you would say to engagement in Prater? This Viennese amusement park offers a lot of entertainment, with or without adrenaline (if for someone the adrenaline related to the question ‘Will you marry me?’ is enough) so for sure everyone will find something for themselves in Prater. In the evening everything is beautifully illuminated too!

You can first take advantage of the various attractions, and then go to the Wiener Riesenrad, devil's wheel with the beautiful views of Vienna and get engaged in the one of the vintage cabin.

4) The Danube / Unique Proposal

There are so many beautiful places near The Danube that I could write another article only about this, but unique ideas that come to my mind about proposal is a cruise on the Danube with The Blue Danube music or Danube Tower with spectacular panoramic view (also available with romantic dinner in tower restaurant) - to always remember this moment.

5) DO&CO Hotel / Elegant proposal

Last but not least, elegant DO&CO Hotel with the stunning view of the Stephan Cathedral is simple a perfect place to get engaged in Vienna… just look at these photos!
